Equity & Innovation in Education Dinner
May 21 @ 5:30 pm - 8:30 pm
Building Excellent Schools Together (BEST) is proud to host our 5th Annual Equity & Innovation in Education Dinner at World of Speed in Wilsonville the evening of May 21st, 2019.
This year, BEST is focused on the Recovery School movement. Recovery Schools are public schools which focus on helping high school students live sober after facing drug and alcohol addiction. The Lake Oswego School District has chartered Oregon’s first Recovery School.
We’re excited to be joined by State Rep. Christine Drazan as we host a dinner panel discussion featuring:
Sasha McLean is the Executive Director of Archway Academy in Houston, a high school for teens in recovery from substance use disorders and other co-occurring issues. Archway Academy is currently the largest recovery high school in the nation and a leader in research and program development. Sasha is also the Board Chairman for the National Association of Recovery Schools.
Tony Mann is a co-founder of the Oregon Recovery High School Initiative, and is currently the school superintendent of the Molalla River School District. Across his career, Tony has led schools and school systems to excellence. Tony believes one of the key attributes of successful schools is the recognition that students are individuals, each one of them with specific strengths and individual needs. He brings a personal focus to the issue of teens who are addicted, and is working to provide a real solution right here in Oregon.
If you are an educator, an administrator, public policy maker, a non-profit leader whose organization is focused on bettering the lives of our kids, or an active parent leader, please join us for this complimentary dinner and an opportunity for us to focus on how we help some of Oregon’s most vulnerable students succeed.
Social Hour begins 5:30pm.
Dinner starts promptly at 6:15pm.
